LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (MBO-3)
One-year contract for 38 hours/week, with the possibility for extension.
INTRODUCTION
Poverty-related diseases affect the lives of more than a billion people globally and lead to millions of deaths each year, primarily in developing countries. Most of these diseases are entirely treatable when diagnosed properly and timely; yet they cause substantial morbidity and mortality due to poor access to adequate healthcare. Mondial Diagnostics is a non-profit foundation, based in Amsterdam, that aims at improving the diagnosis and thereby the treatment of poverty-related diseases, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Our activities focus on the development of new, simple, and affordable rapid diagnostic tests, and the facilitation of local production and distribution of these tests in parts of the world where poverty-related diseases are highly prevalent. We are looking for a motivated Laboratory Support Technician to join our team and support our programs.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Laboratory Support Technician, you will be supporting the research staff in the development and validation of (rapid) diagnostic assays and the manufacturing of the components thereof and you will be responsible for keeping a safe and clean work environment. Your main duties will include:
- Technical maintenance of laboratory equipment and work environment
- Maintaining inventory of and replenishing laboratory supplies
- Preparation of reagents and solutions
- Routine laboratory tasks
- Manufacturing of batches of diagnostic tests
- Assisting in the development and optimization of (immuno)assays
- Execution of development and validation protocols
- Generating and reporting data
PROFILE
- Completed MBO education, Level 3 (Life Sciences or other relevant differentiation)
- Work experience in an R&D laboratory would be an asset
- Good knowledge of spoken and written English is essential
- Good knowledge of Dutch in writing and spoken, at minimum at conversational level
- Accurate and organized
- Flexible, communicative and team-player
